8 vo, decorative publisher´s binding designed by Vasilii Masiutin (Wassily Massjutin). VERY RARE IN CONDITION 'CLOSE TO MINT'. The book was published in two versions: one in soft covers and one in better quality binding, with Wassily Masiutin´s print of attractive Dostoevsky´s portrait in blue on beige background. Copies in publisher´s binding are very rare. Preface, footnotes by V. K.[V. M. Friche] Differs from Tsentrarkhiv edition. A copy of Dostoevsky´s text and Vladimir Friche´s manuscript were smuggled out from Russia without Tsentrarkhiv permission. People involved were reprimanded but no criminal charges were brought. Valuable corrigenda and marginalia in blue pen by Vladimir Maksimovich Friche and his closest assistant. Sold. Will search for another copy when and if requested.
