Collection of essays on famous criminal cases in Soviet courts of 1920s by a prolific and successful 'Pravda' court reporter, close to Bukharin´s circle in 1920s. Liberman befriended Anna Larina - Bucharina (1914- 1996), Nikolai Bukharin´s wife prior to her marriage to Nikolai Bukharin.

Among other topics: sex abuses of rabfakovki, 'free love' cases among younger students, corruption in state trade system, murder cases, duel in the heart of Moscow. Militry tribunal in action and more.

Preface by Iurii Larin, Nikolai Bukharin´s father in law (1882–1932), Soviet economist, political figure, and publicist. Matvei Liberman was Larin´ protege and a younger friend. Iurii Larin helped him to build better career in 'Pravda'. Iurii Larin himself was a son of “crown rabbi” but already by early 1920s he was fully assimilated.He still continued to keep close contacts with Moscow Jewish community. Died in his own bed.
