Collection of essays by former Soviet police officer and later Leningrad state prosecutor Sergei Solov´ev (sovetnik iustitsii 3 klassa) and Soviet Jewish journalist with close ties to high ranking officers in Leningrad police HQ and Leningrad criminal police. Essays deal with activities of Criminal Police investigators in Leningrad and Leningrad oblast.

Two essays in this book, in all the probability based on WW II documents in the archives of Leningrad City Court, dealing with police work in Leningrad during the Siege and KGB counterintelligence unit operations hunting Russian collaborators in 1960s.
