Inscribed by previous owner and dated in pencil :'21-III-26'. Inscription by the owner in pencil with her full name and address in Scandinavia (1926). Large publisher´s logo on the reverse of title page and back cover. Excellent exhibition copy. VERY RARE.
The book was printed in 5000 copies but sold almost overnight and read into pulp within years. All Krasnov´s books in original covers are rare. Cataloger has not seen even one copy of this edidition in original covers during his 50 years plus career as librarian, bibliographer, book dealer and publisher.
Provenance: AT library. AT was a monarchist émigré who left Russia in 1920s and settled in Scandinavia. She was close to some members of Romanov´s family. Her library survived almost intact till 1994 and larger part of it was bought by russica-book-and-art.com in 1998. |
