Arthur Conan Doyle´s popularity in Russia was enormous. His collected works in 22 volumes were produced in 1909 - 1911.Starting from late 1920s till late 1950s practically no reissued appeared in the USSR.All early editions became very rare, due to the fact that they were simply read into pulp.
Up to 1980s all early editions of Doyle´s were still treasured by his fans.Very high prices were paid for earliereditions, despite the fact that his 'Collected Works' in eight volumes were produced in the USSR in 1966.
