The only book printed in Europe of a prolific Russian writer and popular doctor medicus in Russian émigré colonies in Paris and New York, co-founder of writers co-op 'Novye pisateli'. Ianovskii moved to the USA in 1942 and had a successful medical practice. He continued to write fiction through his entire life. Some of his books were translated in English and found a receptive audience. He made his comeback to English-reading audience in 1987, when his Elysian fields was printed by Northern Illinois University Press.
