Tatiana Ivanovna Manukhina (1885-1962) was the wife of the well-known St. Petersburg doctor I. I. Manukhin. She studied at the Pedagogical Institute in St. Petersburg, and after graduation worked for several years in Paris under Professor Durkheim on sociology and primitive religions. Encouraged by Maksim Gor'kii, she started her literary career in 1913. The Manykhins left Russia in 1921 and settled in Paris, where Manukhina took an active part in various welfare and church organizations. She continued to publish under the pseudonym T. Tamanin. Her first novel Otechestvo (Fatherland) appeared in 1933. Manukhina's second book Sviataia blagovernaiakniaginia Anna Kashinskaia (St. Ann, the Devout Princess of Kashin) was published in 1954.
